Our Steps to a Healthier Planet

For over 70 years, we have been taking steps to reduce our impact on the earth. You can learn about our steps directly from the real people of Frito-Lay – our employees - who help us take steps to reduce our environmental impact each and every day.

Solar power is used at one of our plants in Modesto, CA to help make SunChips snacks. (2008)

33% of our 10 ½ oz size SunChips snacks package is made from renewable resources. (2009)

In 2010, we plan to start using fully compostable packaging for our 10 ½ oz size bags of SunChips snacks. (2010)

At our Casa Grande, AZ plant we are working to cut our electricity & water by 90%. By early 2011, we’ll complete the retrofit to enable our Casa Grande plant to run almost entirely on renewable energy and recycled water while reducing waste going to the landfill to less than 1%. (2011)
